University of Maine Redesigns MBA Program Offerings

Students can choose to pursue the program either completely online or blended with in-class sessions

The University of Maine's Maine Business School has revamped its MBA program offerings for fall 2015.

The redesigned program will be flexible, in that it will allow students to either pursue the MBA completely online, or take some classes in a classroom setting.

Unlike previous incarnations of the school's MBA program, this new online version will not require an international field experience or an internship. “MBA students still may elect to participate in the international trip,” Rick Borgman, the program's director, told the school's newsletter, “but by eliminating it as a requirement, we have ensured that working professionals will not have to give up a week of work or use vacation time.”

Additionally, the new MBA will not offer students the chance to pursue "tracks" — previously, the school had offered tracks in Business & Sustainability, Management, Finance, and International Business. The new version of the program will be offered as an "essential" program as well as one with an accounting focus.

The program will also be shorter. Students who have an undergraduate degree in business can complete the MBA in as short as one year.

Although the program is aimed at working professionals in Maine, special pricing is currently available for out-of-state students.
