Western Illinois University Launches Hybrid MBA

Program combines face-to-face learning with online instruction; the MBA can be completed in just one year

Beginning in the fall, Western Illinois University's College of Business and Technology will offer a new hybrid MBA program.

The program combines online classes with in-class learning. In each class, approximately 75 percent of the course material will be delivered online, and the rest will take place on the school's Quad Cities campus.

"This is an ideal program for working adults who cannot commit to a full schedule of traditional courses but who also want to have more interaction with faculty than is possible with a fully online course," says William Polley, the school's interim associate dean and MBA director.

The entire program will take one year to complete; students will take 11 classes in total.

During the fall and spring semesters, students will take four classes: two that meet during the first eight weeks of the semester, and another two that meet during the second eight weeks of the semester. The remaining three classes are offered during the summer sessions.

Western Illinois University will continue to run its other MBA offerings, which include an MBA that can be taken completely in class, and one that can be pursued entirely online.

The school is accredited by AACSB International.
