University of Utah (Eccles) and University of Texas at Dallas (Naveen Jindal) seem to be ranked not too far appart, however Dallas seems to have a considerably lower acceptance rate. Are they simply way more demanding when it comes to the application process? I'm curious about this massive difference (it's 88% at Utah vs 35% at Texas).

There's a lot of self-selection perhaps. Utah feels white, cold and conservative, with a very local alumni base. Dallas is really vibrant, with a much wider alumni base. It's a school in a populous state with very low in-state fees. It's also a much more enticing program: just look at the wider range of electives and specializations.

White, cold and conservative certainly paints a picture. I guess the numbers tell a story here. I appreciate the insight. I'd noticed the wider range of electives but was curious about the huge gap. Thanks.
