I’ve been researching online MBA programs these last weeks and most of the discussion seems heavily focused on career changers trying to break into consulting, banking, etc., but my situation is a bit different and I'm not sure if I should still consider an MBA or rule it out.
I work in operations management for a healthcare company in Phoenix. I don’t really want a dramatic career pivot but rather move into a broader leadership role over the next few years within the same industry. I can’t realistically step away from work full-time since I have lots of running personal costs (family, house, etc.), so I'm looking at an online MBA as an option. I'm not sure whether it'd provide what I need or if I should be looking to make this transition exclusively via the job market.
Is most of the value to an MBA really tied to big career switches and on-campus recruiting / networking?
