Each course there leads to a qualification from some other school. Most are not UK qualifications. The MBA, for example, is from Bharathiar University in Tamil Nadu. The post-graduate diploma will be recognised by lower-quality UK universities. It doesn't seem very innovative to me: just a normal tutoring business for distance learning courses.

The PG Diploma is from EDEXCEL which is the largest UK educational awarding body and have MBA topup arrrangement with University of Worcester and many other reputed UK universities

Greeshma, the regular MBA at Westford is from that Indian university: it's even named in the footnote on http://www.mywestford.com/mba.html Westford offers several diploma courses and, as far as I can see, only one of them leads to the EdExcel diploma. Indeed, that can be topped up by a few British universities - but none of them are reputed for quality. On this discussions board you've spoken about the programme leading to an accredited UK MBA, and none of the EdExcel top-up partners are accredited by the respected accreditation bodies (http://www.find-mba.com/accreditations).

Dear Duncan, I think you have mistaken on this. According to westford, they give dual certification MBA program which a joint program with edexcel and university based on the articulation agreement in place. The student will have to complete 120 credit hours program BTEC Level 7 Extended Diploma in Strategic Management & Leadership which will be completed in 12 months and the same course accredited by ofqual ( office of qualification and examination regulation) and the same can be verified from their Register of Regulated qualification (http://register.ofqual.gov.uk/Qualification/Details/501_0998_4) Westford has associated with University of Worcester, University of Wolverhampton, Liverpool John Moores University and University of Wales to complete MBA final stage based on the edexcel articulation with universities. All of these universities are approved by UK Govt ( www.bis.gov.uk) and UAE Min. of Higher Education (https://www.mohesr.gov.ae/en/Documents/uk.pdf)

Most importantly, westford also provide an opportunity to study partly, two to 4 weeks in UK ( with the university business schools) to give students a real international exposure.

All of this cost only less than USD10,000, which is less than half of the other universities charge here in UAE!!

I think it is the best option for the middle class UK MBA seekers right now available in UAE.

What am I mistaken about? The EdExcel diploma articulated with unaccredited MBAs programmes which are not in any serious ranking of MBAs. I'm not saying that EdExcel of the universities in question do not exist or do not have the right to issues degrees. I'm just saying that they are not highly respected, accredited, MBAs.

Your statement " unaccredited MBA" is not correct, all the university westford has tie-up of edexcel progression are properly accredited by UK government and the same can be verified too. ( www.bis.gov.uk). Now the ranking, most of this universities comes under top-100 universities in most of the ranking.

The accredition referred by you are not legitimate

The so called highly reputed colleges/universities intake cream of the aspirants through theirstrong filteration process and provides training and coaching. Others get the average croud and the quality of the endproduct varies mainly because of this.

Its not allways true that the best managers are the results of accredited business schools. Please note that majority of the companies failed in recent economic crisis were managed by the products of top business schools. Let us be fair enough to give oppurtunity for the students to independently analyse the business schools than terming them as 'un accreditted'.

Accreditation is a specific word: I'm not inventing it. The UK government doesn't accredit courses or universities. It awards royal charters to universities. Accreditation is a higher level of quality: take a look at http://www.find-mba.com/accreditations

So, when I say that these MBA programmes do not have reputable accreditation, I am absolutely correct. If I am wrong, and these MBAs do have respected and independent accreditation (or even one of them does), I am sure that you can find some online reference to say otherwise.

Glenn, the major accreditation bodies are totally legitimate. They accredit thousands of business schools around the world, and any impartial observer will agree that the accredited schools are of a much higher quality than an accredited one. An accredited MBA can be found for as little as USD 12,000. That's an investment, and it's reflected in the outcomes.
