Strathclyde MBA flexible learning

Hi all,

I am currently living in Vietnam and I am applying for DL MBA programs in the UK and have received an offer from Strathclyde.

Can anyone comment on the course and its quality? The full-time MBA is highly ranked in the FT rankings, however, Strathclyde does not show up at all in Online MBA rankings.

I am also applying for Warwick, Durham and Bradford. Would you recommend these three DL programs over Strathclyde? If so, what are the reasons?

Are you near a Strathclyde study center? Or, are you looking to work in a place that hosts a study center? There's usually better alumni networks around the study centers, meaning more potential for jobs, leads, etc.

But all those programs you're looking at are good options. Why not do some research into the depths of each alumni / recruiting network in the area were you'd like to work?

Hi MBA hipster,

The nearest centre would be singapore I think. As far as I understand I have to attend 2 compulsory on-campus sessions in Glasgow.

My area of work would be the APAC region including Australia. Depending on the country the alumni networks are stronger or weaker (weaker in the case of Vietnam).

Do you think the full-time residential and distance learning MBA at Strathclyde are the same quality - except the networking and classroom-cohort experience of course?

The quality of an MBA is not about academics as you will not learn much in depth in any particular field especially with a general management 1 year UK degree. if you want learning sign up to coursera or edx where you can get the same learning as any top MBA because they post up real finance, accounting courses there for a tiny fraction of the costs.

The networking and the opportunities of a full-time MBA could easily worth more than 50% of the value of an MBA.

In my MBA we take our study nowhere near serious as when we were undergraduate. After all, we all have degrees and successful careers before we do the MBA.

There are not many good MBA in Vietnam but the University of Hawaii offer a very good course in Vietnam and you can study in sunny Hawaii. Why not go for that option?

Bardford allows you 2 or 3 courses on campus in the UK and in other countries if I am not mistaken Germany. But the town itself is pretty rough

The number one option is of course Warwick if the fees are affordable. If the fees are not double what Bradford or Durham charge you I would go to Warwick in a blink of eyes

My friend does an MBA with Manchester University and he loves the travelling that allows him to go to.

As I understand it, if you pursue the program through one of the international centers, you have to do monthly meetings in that center. They also offer a summer residency in Glasgow but that's optional.

That's a great suggestion. AACSB accredited and has had a presence in Vietnam for a while now, meaning their network is probably decently developed in the country.
