Hi there,
Just wondering if someone can recommend an online MBA in either Spanish or English.
I am a 34 year old from Spain but been living in Australia for the last 10 years. Ideally I would like to go back to Spain so I'd like to study a MBA that is well recognise in Europe as well.
I have a Degree in Tourism and been working in Travel for 12 years. I would love to keep working in the Tourism industry or find a new career in International Trade.
My budget is about 10000-15000 euros and needs to be all online as I'm working part time and have 2 kids.
I had a look at the following: http://www.obs-edu.com/masters-y-posgrados-en-direccion-general/global-mba/presentacion
Does anyone have any feedback about it?
Thanks in advance!

Depending on where in Europe you want to work, and whether you want an MBA-type role with a traditional MBA employer, then you will be better off looking for an MBA with international accreditation from an organisation like AACSB or AMBA. I think ESCEM was one of the cheapest: http://www.escem.fr/en/programmes/mba-programmes/mba-online/
In terms of the really well-respected online MBAs (http://rankings.ft.com/businessschoolrankings/online-mba-ranking-2015) Bradford, a top ten school, is great value at 14,500 GBP. Centrum Católica is around the same... 18,000 Euro.
On the other hand, my guess is that the tourism in industry in Spain does not hire a lot of people from well-recognised MBAs. Maybe a less costly degree like the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya might be an option if you are not looking at traditional MBA employers. It's under 9,000 Euro has an online Executive MBA: http://studies.uoc.edu/en/postgraduate-courses/business-school/international-executive-mba-business/presentation

Thanks a lot Duncan. I have been looking at ESCEM which looks quite good and apparently their online MBA is half price at the moment.
Does anyone have any feedback about this school or their online MBA? Does anyone know if they offer career support after it's finished?

I think you'd need to get that via the school. Surely careers services might be limited. If you read French, there is some media coverage about cuts at ESCEM (and, of course, at most other grande ecoles du commerce) in funding from the chambers of commerce. That is a major driver of the mergers between grande ecoles in recent years.

Interesting discussion... You guys know how much the ESCEM online MBA costs? Can't seem to find the info anywhere.

You'll need to ask them. priconsa seems to know. With the relaunch, my guess is that it will be 20k to 25k euro. It was around 12 or 15, I think, so the half price offer sounds like the old price.

Thanks a lot Duncan.. This is very helpful..

Duncan guess is right. Escem online mba costs 11k, discounted 50%.

I have an offer from ESCEM after contacting the University for 11000 euros. not sure about the quality of this particular online MBA, that's why wondering whether to take it up, the discounted price offer may close anytime I was tolda as it is allowed only for 1st 20 candidates, I was told there would be a telephonic interview in case I apply, as I haven't passed TOEFL or IELTS and I'm from India

I am actually struggling to get in touch with alumini of this newly introduced MBA as I need an insight into this

This is a new programme. There can be no alumni.
Posted Oct 11, 2015 10:42
true but it is an old programme that has been relaunched with a new duration, so there will be alumini who pursued the program earlier
Posted Oct 11, 2015 10:47
Duncan but are you aware of the quality of this program? If so could you please let me know

It is, bearing in mind the discounts which participants report, one of the cheapest online MBAs from an AACSB-accredited school. With a low price and a small number of students, it's impossible for the programme to be high quality. That is compounded by the deep financial troubles at ESCEM after the failure of its attempted merger into FBS. Academically, I am sure the content will cover the MBA core curriculum well.
But, when you imagine that an MBA from one of the world's top business schools is now available for only $7000 more than your discounted price, why would anyone choose a small, almost bankrupt, French school that is not well known even in France? Take a look at https://www.coursera.org/course/imba

Thanks Duncan for your early response, so I think I need to give due weightage to what you say. I was aware of the failed attempt of merger of ESCEM into FBS but I didn't know that there was a bankruptcy element too involved. Hats off to your awakening response, it was really an eyeopener for a guy like me who isn't as much aware of these developments as much as people like you are. Thanks a lot once again!!!

Yes, it's very sad: It seems that the school is being funded month-to-month. http://www.7apoitiers.fr/depeche/5110/escem-823-500-euro-a-sortir-d-ici-fin-octobre

There's a very sad part about ESCEM in this interview with the mayor of Tours http://www.37degres-mag.fr/actualites/face-a-face-avec-serge-babary-maire-de-tours/ He is very frank: no more subsidies for ESCEM. Hard to see another school that could take over ESCEM.
