This is a lovely idea: Edx have a series of MicroMasters, which are similar to Coursera's specialisation certificates: https://www.edx.org/micromasters . The partners include:
Columbia - Business analytics
MIT SCALE - Supply chain management
BU Questrom - Digital leaderhsip
IIM Bangalore - Business management
IIM Bangalore - Entrepreneurship
ASU Thunderbird - International business
Louvain - Management (in French).
Typically the programs cost under $2,000 and contain one-quarter of the academic credits of the full masters degree. At MIT, for example, the MicroMasters reduces the cost of a masters degree by around $20,000 and reduces the attendance to just one semester.
They look like useful stand-alone qualifications and, since they have academic credit, are useful for students wanting to prove their ability to perform well academically.
$2000 or less - Edx MicroMaster is 1/4 of a masters

Interesting, I hadn't heard about these before. Plus, they let you try them for free if you don't want to pursue the actual credential.
